Notice the cat, who is The Cat used in much of the marketing literature for the home. He is voice-trained and will readily leap onto Hemingway's bed on command. He is one many of the six-toed cats that roam the property; all of whom are descendants of Hemingway's beloved pet.
What is that spot by the cat's eye?
ReplyDeleteIf that orange cat is a female, it is rare. I remember hearing somewhere that only 1 in 10,000 orange cats is a female. At once point I had 2 orange female kittens, but one found a home down the street. I think. Anyhow, most orange cats are male. Fred is orange and not a girl cat - which would explain why Fred is named Fred.
I am usually too tossed to find Hemmingway's home in Key West.
Check my site for my 2007 Halloween tips!
It IS a female, I believe! And yeah, I think it's a spot on her, not the camera. I'll pop over!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I went there about 25 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe cat pack is awesome.
Happy Halloween, Saur.
Interesting. I have been to the Hemingway home near Sun Valley, Idaho. (Don't remember any cats, but it was impressive.)
ReplyDeleteYou should send the cat photo off to some of these "ghost photo" sites. Claim the spot is Hemmingway's ghost. A small version of it anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of his ghost was visiting his sailboat in Cuba that day.
SPOOKY!
Ill bet the cat is nice however. It has to be used to people it does not know.
Thanks for sharing those beautiful photos, especially the Cat. :)
ReplyDeleteKey West is amazing, isn't it?

ReplyDeleteNot that I have a typewriter fetish or anything . . . but did you get any shots of his typewriter there?
