LITTLE OLD LADY (slightly bewildered): Ohhh. I see...
so in a year, it will be:
BREAD VENDOR: Well you see, ma'am, research showed that everyone wanted more fiber in their diet so it was just logical for us to pair up with the sawmills and add sawdust to the batter.
LITTLE OLD LADY: Well I guess I won't need Metamucil any longer...

Yes: The food companies are working hard to convince us all that the smaller packaging is somehow due to popular demand. The reality is that prices are going up, and portions are going down.
