Political Sex Scandals: Two For the Price of One

Tim Mahoney
Florida Rep. Tim Mahoney (D) comes from Mark Foley's former district. If I lived in West Palm Beach, I would consider moving, because there's something in the water.

Two years after Mahoney won Foley's seat (after Foley's sex scandal, Mahoney now has a fully bloomed sex scandal of his very own.

Below is Mahoney with his mistress, Patricia Allen:

Neither of them could win a beauty contest, but apparently she meets his standards. Too bad he's married.

The affair came to light when she found out that he was having an affair with someone else in campaign headquarters. This guy must be more active than a hormonally-flushed teenager.

So Patricia confronted Mahoney about the other affair and secretly taped the conversation during which he fired her on the spot.

She must have been more than angry, because releasing the tape is an admission of guilt in the state of Florida, where it's illegal to tape record someone secretly without their consent. So, Patricia can look forward to a few charges of her own.

Meanwhile, Mahoney is clamoring for help from the Democratic leadership. If they're smart, the only help they'll give him is out the door.

Barack Obama

Yeah, yeah. I know. More unwarranted smears from the right. However, this little gem surfaced originally when Obama's biggest competitor was Hillary Clinton, and it initially came from her supporters.

Apparently Obama's been playing footsies with the hired help. This girl is Vera Baker, and there's a growing series of discussions and speculations about this pretty young thing.

From Hill Buzz we hear:

Who is Vera Baker?

Some people in Chicago claim she was Obama’s Finance Director for his 2004 Senate campaign. FEC Senate campaign records show she was paid a pretty penny as “Finance Director”.

However, people familiar with Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign say Claire Serdiuk was Obama’s Finance Director. Looking through everything we can see online for that 2004 campaign, Claire Serdiuk is consistently listed as the Finance Director - because that’s what she was.

There’s no mention of Vera Baker…but Vera Baker was paid as the “Finance Director” too.

And then, suddenly, Vera Baker was relocated to New York.

Right around the time Michelle Obama got incredibly angry about something. We know it was hard to tell, because Michelle’s angry about something on a good day…but this was EXTRA angry.

And then, even more suddenly, Vera Baker was relocated to the island of Martinique, where she remains.

Incidenally, Hill Buzz is a site run by self-proclaimed gay white male Democrats - hardly your classic defenders of staunch Republican values.
According to other sources, Baker is now on the payroll for a very big connection of Obama's who happens to reside in Chicago. What she can possibly do for him while she's located in Martinique remains a mystery.

Well I suppose it evens thing out since McCain cheated on his first wife and reportedly had a lobbyist mistress named Vicki Iseman during his run in 2000.

Edwards, Spitzer, Newsome, Bubba, Villariagosa, etc. Dem sex scandals are a dime a dozen, but notice one thing: they always involve male politicians. There is a clear double standard at work. For example, Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) is currently managing her own sex scandal, but she doesn’t have to worry about media attention. She seduced her married military escort on official travel, ruined his military career and destroyed his marriage. The allegations are detailed, current and credible, yet the media is ignoring it. Just google “loretta sanchez scandal” to read all about it in the blogs. Her conduct violates the House ethics rules in several ways and also required her lover to violate the military code. She should know better, as senior woman on the armed services committee.

IT DOESN'T MATTER!!!

Barry is demigod. He can't do wrong. If all he does tonight at the debate is sit in his chair with a goofy grin, pass gas, and burp the alphabet forwards and backwards, people will think he's a genius. They may want to learn how to burp the alphabet backwards, too. Who knows, it may become another campaign slogan, "Change you can believe in...burp the alphabet backwards!" or "Obama: Flatulence that smells like roses." or "Change (rip!) is in the air!"

This is probably the worst example of media kiss-ass I have ever seen.

Ed, I remember the Vicki Iseman issue. A very curious incident, and I think I wrote about it at the time, though I can't place my hands on it.

Red Baron, I call sexual discrimination! But you know, this is similar to the child molester cases. If a man molests a child, that's just plain wrong. If a woman does, she's either sexy or misguided.

UL, Ah, so true. It will be interesting to see how tonight's debate goes. More of the same, I suspect.

I hope you are wrong that it will be more of the same in the debate tonight. I'm hoping now that he has tanked in the polls, McCain will get back to issues instead of sounding like a whiny old man. I have written off Obama but I haven't written McCain off yet.

I think that the media spends way too much time on the various sex scandals. If you look at the amount of affairs that politicians have I am pretty sure that it is no different than the number of 'regular' people having affairs. I would much rather people focus on their actual opinions than scandal.

Completely off topic, but we had our Federal election up here in Canada last night. We have a Conservative minority government for the second time in a row. Ah the joys of having four major political parties.

Scott, I did read that, and found it to be interesting! Yes, the only thing scarier to most Americans than our current political system is a system with more than 2 parties. It's always conceivable (in such a case) that the minority will rule.

I do not think 'ordinary' people have affairs as much as politicos, mainly because they don't have as many opportunities. I don't believe in the good of mankind, so I'm sure that if/when afforded such opportunities, most people would take them.

Ed, I agree. We'll know more tonight. Interestingly enough, McCain's brother is kicking a fit over the current handling of his campaign. I wonder if we'll see anything different tonight?

I listened to the audio clips of Mahoney on ABC News. He is truly one arrogant individual.

I love how Chris Matthews of CNBC went on and on and on about how "beautiful" Michelle Obama is.

No, she's not. I mean, I can walk down the street and point out tons of black chicks better looking than that woman. Give me a fucking break. I'd cheat on that biotch, too.

Yea. That darn liberal media. Fox News is clearly covering this story up! Darn Fox and its obvious bias!!!

You realize that the only sites reporting this are various far right leaning blogs. Hillbuzz only summarizes what other very slanted blogs are claiming.

Links to "read more" simply go from one blog to the next - all saying the same thing.

And it has been around since August. At least. Plenty of time for Fox to send a team of liberal media ninjas to the Caribbean to bury the story. Even if they sent the ninjas on a sailboat.

McCain has been behind in the polls since before the first debate. If this were real, then for sure it would have been brought out by now.

But if you want to think that internet blog rumors are true, Google this name.

Vicki Iseman

Of course, this story is all made up. Clearly the result of the liberal media - way back in 2000.

OR was it the right wing attack machine, going after McCain so that King George would win?

Remember - it WAS 2000 that the story came to the surface. Now who was making bullshit up back then?

Google "republican South Carolina primary 2000" for the answer.

But the Obama story is true. Right?

I am calling bullshit here.

Lazy's got a good point. If Faux isnt running the story, then the level of plausability must be pretty damn low.

So how much of the scandal with the idiot guy will get attention? Probably hardly any because he's democrat, and we must remember, only republican's have scandalous affairs...WHATEVERBILLCLINTONLOVERS

Men are men, repuclian, democrat or otherwise. But the real problem is them wasting their reputations on nasty, ugly chicks with really big eyebrows

I just read UL's comment, that was hi-freakin-larious

Doozie, You really have me chuckling out loud. You have this way about you, in which I envision you rabidly (yes, raBidly) typing at your keyboard, hair flying and eyes flashing. ;o)
