Etc.

Spammer Magnet

Boy, the spammers are coming out of the woodwork lately. I'm getting all kinds of retards who are leaving messages for insurance, products, and other crap. Hello, losers: Do you think this is effective marketing? Here's a tip for you: It's not.

Unrealistic State of Florida Driver's License Standards

Now the State of Florida is demanding all sorts of additional information in order to even renew licenses. This info includes a notarized birth certificate in addition to other documents.

Is it just me, or is this pretty unrealistic? How many of us can pull out something like that? I have no earthly idea where my birth certificate is. I'll grant you that this could be a lame attempt to curb illegal immigrants, but that's easy enough to solve: Put any employer of illegal immigrants in jail or fine him in such a way to really impact his business, and the problem is taken care of.

My Daughter

For those of you who are confused about my reference to my daughter in the last post, let me explain.

I have a 15 year old girl who's not my biological daughter but she's been in my life for ten years. Her father is my best friend, Pov. Her nickname is Bugs.

I'm proud to say that I got her into gifted programs at an early age, and she is a fine student as well as a great human being.

I had to have my notarized birth certifacte to get my SC driver's license. I don't know that I think it is so bad that you have one, they are pretty easy to obtain, I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. All I had to do was mail my request with a check to the town clerk's office of the town I was born in.

I have to laugh at the notarized part. Anyone and I do mean anyone can get licensed to be a Notary of the Public by simply going to a class and paying the appropriate fee. Due to marrying and immigrant, I had to have plenty of things notarized and less than half the time they didn't even ask for an ID before they notarized whatever I stuck in front of them. I would be willing to be I could create a fake birth certificate and get it notarized tomorrow without any problems. What a scam!

Angela, You're right, it's TOO easy. See Ed's comment below (and he's right - I'm a notary and although I take it seriously, it's easy to take the test and who's to know if a notary is honest or not?)

Ed, So very true!

My question about the spammers is this: have they figured out a way around the word verification, or are they just doing the work to get their "ads" out. Delete them, curse them to a horrible fate, then move on.

To use social media terminology, "I like" your story about your "daughter". Families are built as well as born, which is what makes me so crazy about the gay marriage "debate". Families are groups bonded by love, nothing more or less.

Dave, I agree, but as for your example of a family unit I must say a couple things:

1. From a personal standpoint, I believe being gay is a choice.

However,

2. From a religious standpoint, it is only a wrong choice if your religion says that it is. In my case, my religion says it's wrong.

But:

3. You cannot allow religion to dictate governmental policies, IMHO. If Christianity wins out this time, will Islam win next time? This is too dangerous a possibility be allowed to happen, so I prefer the USA governmental policies to be a religion-free zone.

That means that the only true argument against gay marriage is my secular argument against it here. I still think it's a valid one.

And off on a rabbit trail: I think that speaking the truth about your beliefs is not a hate crime. This is something that many people are afraid that the new hate crime law will impose: A gagging of all religious beliefs concerning sexual lifestyle choices. IMHO, this will not be an issue.

I can see it now. The State really wants to get rid of all the cars, so they will simply claim that everyone's birth certificate is fake. Brilliant plan.

I had to get my truck, jet ski, and jet ski trailer registered this month. Taxes on my truck doubled. And the County closed the satellite tax collector offices - leaving only one in Downtown Miami open.

So not only did taxes double - we are all forced to go to a tag agency and pay an extra $5. For me, this was actually $15 because I needed three stickers.
