Cracking Down on Illegal Immigrants FINALLY

The New York Times mourns in it's editorial that finally we are coming to this. And yet anyone with common sense says YES! Finally! And it's about time.

Illegal immigrants do so much damage to us as a nation. Not only do they cost more than they put back into the country, but they also create a system in which higher wages are easily suppressed among legally working American adults. According to a study in 2004 by Professor Borjas of Harvard University:

• By increasing the supply of labor between 1980 and 2000, immigration reduced the average annual earnings of native-born men by an estimated $1,700 or roughly 4 percent.

• Among natives without a high school education, who roughly correspond to the poorest tenth of the workforce, the estimated impact was even larger, reducing their wages by 7.4 percent.

• The 10 million native-born workers without a high school degree face the most competition from immigrants, as do the eight million younger natives with only a high school education and 12 million younger college graduates.

When you think it about this, common sense tells us that this is true. Only in today's political climate do we need to fund a study to prove that 2+2=4.

Additionally, they drain our medical system by going to hospitals if they're suffering from even a cold, knowing that hospitals cannot turn anyone away and must treat patients even if there is no hope of payment. They don't pay, of course, and thus medical costs to legal Americans go up in order to cover this.

Crime is also increased through these illegal immigrants. Just as they choose to not obey US laws when they come into the country, most continue to disregard our laws once they're living here. In some areas, the majority of criminals wanted for violent crimes are illegal immigrants. Our jails are filled with many illegal immigrants, who will hopefully be deported once their sentences are served.

Now we are forcing employers to be responsible, for the first time in almost 30 years. I've heard it said that this will only force illegals to the welfare lines. However, welfare is NOT available to illegal immigrants. In fact, since the welfare crackdown in 1996, welfare is not easily available to many people who are legally here. And ultimately, that is why we need the illegal immigrants to leave. They're taking our jobs, driving our wages down, and yet we still are forced into lower-paying, low-end jobs because we no longer have the luxury to hold out for a good job.

It is time for illegal immigrants to leave, and it's about time that the government is cracking down on them.

Just curious, but where does your passion for this particular issues come from? It comes up so often. Below I have attached some song lyrics that I would asky anyone to read and think about.

i don't need to be a global citizen
because i'm blessed by nationality
i'm member of a growing populace
we enforce our popularity

i feel sorry
for the earth's population
'cuz so few
live in the U.S.A.
at least the foreigners
can copy our morality
they can visit but they cannot stay
only precious few
can garner the prosperity

we've got the american Jesus
overwhelming millions every day

Those lowered wages do not vanish. They go into the pockets of those who hire illegal. This is why illegal immigrants are not going anywhere. Too many people are making too much money off them.

I want you to know that some hospitals are fighting back. Triage nurses have a list of symptoms that are non-emergent. The nurse gets the doctor and then the doctor take a look. This is all done in 5-minutes or so. If the the doctor say emergent the patient is seen in the ER. If it is not emergent the patient is taken to the clerk and told by the doctor what you have is not an emergency. Then the clerk tells the patient that the ER doctor will still see you for $150.00 that will include the doctor and nurse seeing the patient any lab, xray or other test. If the patient want to be seen they pay if not, they leave.

The patient leave with a booklet, not just a piece of paper, but a multipage booklet filled with references and resources to dentist, healthcare, mental health, etc.

Of course this goes for all patients not just illigal aliens, but at least it is one way to weed out the ones using the ER for a primary care doctor and a hang nail.

Michelle, thank you very much for your interesting contribution!

Lazy, very true. Good observations.

Scott, Here is the truth.

1. I have good friends who are LEGAL immigrants who are very offended by the illegal ones who got here with no work or loyalty to the USA.

2. I am offended by illegal behavior.

3. I am offended by people who sponge off the system when I make the choice not to.

4. I was once a government representative who met with the Prime Minister of a province in Mexico. Our main function was to play nice, since most of our illegal aliens come from that province. THEY make money, WE make money. It was many years ago, but I never forgot the stale taste in my mouth.

As for your lyrics, from what I can understand of them: How nice. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all live in a utopian world? We don't.

P.S. Scott, about the part where I say "...WE make money": By "we", I meant Big Business, whom I was told we were ultimately representing.

re: #3. so you obviously are totally disgusted by most of the white anglos who sponge off the system? As a white anglo myself I see more hispanics working their asses off in the fields, whether or not they are illegal doesn't really bother me....I'd rather worry myself about global warming and what I can do to fix that mess.

Saur, what do you mean "Prime Minister of a Provence of Mexico"?

I worked in protocol and met many representatives of foreign governments. I have met the Consul General of Mexican Consulate in Miami.

I was unaware there was a "prime minister" in Mexico. There is a President and Congress - and each Provence has a Governor - but there is no prime minister.

LI, Well, he was introduced to ME as a PM of the province, but as I don't speak spanish, who knows how accurate the translation was... and it's been years since it happened. I'll say this much: He was the head of it - so call it Governor, call it PM, whatever.

Some Random Girl, There you are! I haven't seen you around in about a year! Nice too see you again. Anyway, yes - of COURSE I'm just as incensed about white people who sponge off the system. Why WOULDN'T I be? But the truth is that the majority of the sponges are not legal white people OR legal black people OR legal brown people. They are illegal immigrants.

LI, I may even have his biz card around here somewhere, but I won't be able to find it today. When I do, I'll let you know. And, if you'd like to email me, I'll give you the name of the province.
