This n' That

Sharon Stone Puts Foot in Mouth

Shrill Sharon Stone declared that the Chinese people died as a result of their government persecuting the Tibetans. As I listened to her little speech, I was surprised by how grating and whiny her voice was. She also sounded amazingly... common and dull. Once again, I was struck by how far reality is from the Big Screen.

Of course, Harrison Ford is just the opposite. He is a man that is comfortable in any interview, retains a wonderful on-the-spot humor, and is obviously quite intelligent. It's very nice to see Indiana Jones still rockin' in his 60s. And if you haven't seen the latest Indy movie, get out there! What are you waiting for?!

Barack Obama Fit to Run

Barack's doctor just came out and said he's in perfect health. Well, of course he is! He's not even drinking age yet, is he?

Gay Governor's Wife Says He Owes Her

Former New York Gov. James McGreevey isn't smelling like a rose.

McGreevy's wife, Dina Matos, is complaining that his gay lifestyle choices which cost him the gubanatorial position also cost her the position of First Lady and all the perks that went with it.

McGreevey complains that he can't hope to pay her back for any of these losses, as he's decided to become a priest and he's now merely a seminary student.

Time to crack those books, McGreevey, and rethink that whole part about doing unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Is Stone suggesting that the earthquake was some sort of divine retribution? (no link given, so I dont know the whole story.) Honestly, unless they're talking about the craft of acting or filmmaking, why does anyone care what Hollywood types think about anything?

"McGreevy's wife, Dina Matos, is complaining that his gay lifestyle choices which cost him the gubanatorial position also cost her the position of First Lady and all the perks that went with it."

o. boo. hoo.

What century is this? I thought women were supposed to make their own lives? So Dina didnt get to Mrs Governor, so what? Did she think it was owed to her? He owes her profuse apologies, and maybe alimony, but I hope she's not expecting to be compensated for the loss of the First Ladyship. That kind of expectation of entitlement is as disgusting as it is absurd.

That sounds like hypocrisy. Who let him in to seminary? That's Hypocrisy with a capital H.

All that I can say about that lawsuit is only in America!!

I am sorry, but it sounds like this lady just wants to be rich and famous, screw the husband.

Everyone, Re: Dina Matos. No doubt she's trying to get all she can get. BUT: My point is that her husband betrayed her, is defending himself, and attending seminary. I smell a whiff of hypocrisy here...

Daveawayfromhome, She attributes it to karma. Go here.

Paul I THINK that it's Episcopalian. They really don't believe much of anything anyway.

Scott, very true. :P

Blondie, I don't think so. I think it's a mix. I think you're RIGHT, but she is also woefully hurt over this very public and horrific affair. Wouldn't YOU be?

idiots claim that all manners of natural disasters are the results of God or karma or whatever else they decide it is.

Care for me to dig up You tube clips of TV preachers declaring that Katrina wiped out NO because of the fags, or that God will smite Orlando with tornadoes and hurricanes because of Disney? And do not even get them started on what horrible things God will do to San Fransisco. Or is it San FranSIScooooooo (said with a really super mega gay lisp). I can do that you know.

Anyhow, Stone's comments are really not too far out there. The Westboro Baptist Church crazies even went so far as to claim the recent coal mine accidents were God's wrath for faggery and butt-buggery. And whatever else they think is going on. And how would the good people at Westboro Baptist Church be such experts when it comes to ass piracy?? Huh??? Are they doing "research" behind closed doors?

Obama's medical records - for some reason medical records are always let out. The TV goons need something to talk about nonstop for weeks on end. And medical records are as good as anything else!

The gay governor - How do you pay someone back for not being the first lady of New York? That title does not pay anything.

I think it is great he is going to be priest now. He can hang out in gay rehab with Ted Haggard. Then they can both be cured, and prance around holding hands and singing songs and maybe even do the YMCA - then start a new megs church and become very rich. Preaching about how it is bad to be an ass pirate and you should leave the crystal meth in the pastor's office for proper disposal.

And did it ever occur to you that McGreevey might WANT others to do onto him (in the cornhole) as he does onto them?

God will smite New York - the entire state - with some horrible disaster over this. Does it matter that the people being smited have nothing to do with anything? NOPE!

God works like that. Smite the powerless while the people in power get away with it.

Why are there so many idiots in the world???

Did Sharon Stone ever stop to think that the people killed in the earthquake had nothing to do with the treatment of Tibet? Probably not.

People into all that "karma" shit never stop to think too much. They do not even realize that pointing out results of bad karma is in itself bad karma. But whatever.

It'll only be hypocrisy if he doesnt follow through and ends up back in his old career somehow. If not, it's what people who dont have a bias towards gays call "changing the direction of your life", also known as "a wake-up call".

Seriously, if Elliot Spitzer's wife was suing him (because she's lost a first-ladyship also), would you have as much sympathy for her?

Yes, he cheated on her. This is what the wealthy and powerful do. She wanted the plusses, but if she didnt consider that almost inevitable minus (and its possible consequences), then I have no sympathy for her. If she put all her eggs into a governor basket, how dumb is that?

daveawayfromhome said...

I watched that link. Good grief, what a bitch. I dont have any love for the Chinese in Tibet (and the Dalai Lama is such a cool guy), but injecting the comment about Tibet into the situation of the earthquake is totally inappropriate (kind of like saying Katrina is retribution for invading Iraq), unless you're a bitch.

Actually, even then it's inappropriate, but typical, for a bitch.

Three Score and Ten or more said...

Didn't Sharon Stone get famous mostly from lifting her legs up high while she was wearing a short skirt and no underwear. Maybe the foot in the mouth was intentional and intended as a reprise????? ;->

3 Score & 10, ;o) Very true.

Dave, I actually have great sympathy for the spouse of a cheater and I would completely applaud any woman for suing the man for a loss of whatever rights she had. Goodness knows that the current system doesn't give much redress for wrongs suffered: American justice is, for the most part, dead.

Lazy, No doubt there are plenty of assh*les out there, and I agree that you'll always find stupid people blaming natural disasters on human sins and failings. BUT: Sharon Stone really sticks out here because she's a major celeb and a recent spokesman for a well-known company that just dropped her over this.

How does pointing out bad karma create bad karma? How does anyone learn about karma if you can't talk about it...?

What an incredibly stupid thing for her to say!
Harrison Ford IS amazing. Look forward to seeing his new movie, but first the girls are going to see Sex in the City :)

I do not know. Something about gloating over others problems. Or something. You are not suppose to do that. I think you can say "hey, stealing that old lady's purse is bad karma" but you are not supposed to say "that hot cooking oil accident that disfigured your face was something you brought on yourself from all the bad karma you racked up!"

I think. I am not really an expert in such areas.

Sharon Stone is less important than my toenail clippings.

I heard Sharon Stone's comments, and I was struck by how she just HAD to add that little tidbit in there about The Dalai Lama being a "good friend" of hers.
Oh, Puhleeeeze!!
Blaming the deaths of tens of thousands of Chinese people who have no part in how their gov't is behaving on possibly karma.... very stupid choice of words.
She has apologized though, and I hope it was sincere.

We saw the new Indiana Jones movie. I liked it, but the rest of my family didn't really care for it. I agree that it's very hard to top the first one. This one holds its own amongst the other sequels. I enjoyed it.

The fiasco McGreevey made of his marriage and his reputation is his to deal with. I hope to never see or hear of him again.

Hi Saur, trying to get back into this madness so thought I'd stop by and read what you've got.

I'm more offended that she belives in such nonsense as karma, when are we going to grow out of religion and get on full speed ahead with reason.

Peace to you and yours.

Sharon Stone's logic is like the Persians claiming the Holocaust was God's punishment for Israel in advance....

there must be at least one photo of Barrack smoking a cigarette somewhere.

Why do celebrities think they have a right to even comment on politics?

When a "star" endorses a candidate, it's useless. Do I really want to follow the lead of people who name their children Apple, or whatever stupid name they come up with?

Daniel Hoffmann-Gill said...

Fred, everyone has a right to comment on politics; just vecause you're famous doesn't eman you can't have a voice.

daveawayfromhome said...

The problem with celebrities commenting on politics is not the commenting. It's the people who listen to those comments without giving them any critical thought simply because they came from the mouths of celebrities. It's those people who support the media which pours this stuff down our throats. If enough people gag on it, they'll change flavors.

Daniel Hoffmann-Gill said...

Indeed Dave, spot on, we (or at least many of us) are part of the problem.
