I'm Back!

Thanks for your patience (to those of you who are still bothering to check in on me!)

The last eye surgery was successful to a certain extent, though my other eye is now having complications. I would never recommend continual lasik eye corrections now that I know what I know.

I've also had various situations happen with friends and family which absorbed me to a great deal. I won't go into the details now, but perhaps I will some day.

Here are some wonderful recent discoveries I'd like to share with you:

1. The novel Creepers by David Morrell, author of First Blood (the book that launched Rambo). I've been an urban explorer (a.k.a. Creeper) for many years, and the beginning is true to the usual experience. Happily I've never experienced the remainder of the novel but it's a great action/adventure story.

2. The completely campy zombie movie Undead or Alive, which is great for the times you don't want to think but want something with a little more kick than the Hallmark Channel.

3. Pottery painting is FUN! It's not just a girly-girly thing to do (though most of the people are women).

My brother got married last week and I was able to make some personalized things for them such as mugs, goblets, a pasta bowl and a platter. They have really weird names (like Ermintrude and Horace), so it's not like you could walk into a store and find their names on anything. Yeah, my parents were a little creative with our names. Ah well, it could have been worse... I could be a Shaniqua.

4. Here's a catchy new song out by Michael Franti - the guy who wrote and sung the Obama campaign song. See if it gets your toes tapping like it does for me!

Welcome back, Saur. I'm glad you're making progress and hope the other eye heals soon, too. I was hoping you would post to give us an update.

1. Ill never get lasic now that I know what I know! Ill keep my contacts and/or glasses.

2. Urban spelunking is cool. The problem is the whole "trespassing" thing.

3. Zombie movies are always worth watching. Unless they suck. But normally, everything is better with zombies - except for reality. Reality with zombies would suck.

4. Pottery painting? Not something I would do on my own. But if I were dragged in by a chick - why not. Paint some pots, sneak off for some beer, paint some more pots - call it a day. I might even make myself a stein with a boat theme. Assuming of course I can paint - which I can't.

5. Chances of finding the name "Shaniqua" printed on things are pretty good.

6. Ill queue up the song later :)

7. I would still want to kick the eye doctor in the sack.

Fred, Thanks so much! I appreciate the encouragement.

Lazy,

1. It's hard for me to be positive about Lasik but the first two times I was OK and it really helped me when I was out on the water (as you know - we're fellow boaters). No more glasses to get smeared or contacts that can dry out.

2. "Trespassing"? I prefer "unauthorized access". ;o)

3. I agree - zombies rock. I don't know why, but you're right.

4. Well if you're ever up this way, I'll drag you with me. There's a great little Mexican restaurant with Tecate beer next door.

5. Actually, you're right. I've always thought that that was one of the ugliest names I've ever heard but I'll have to come up with something even more atrocious now.

6. You'll love it!

7. Yeah, I'm thinking about it. I'm really frustrated - especially in the mornings when my eyes are worse.

Ed, Thanks! I'll pop over soon to see how things are with you and your little family.

Good to have you back!

Well, now I guess I'll live with my glasses. Your story does not encourage me, and my eyes are about the same as they've been since puberty anyway. I've gone this long, what's the rest of my life?

2. Ugh, dont care for zombies. And is everything better with zombies? This, for instance?3. My wife, who's a teacher, actually had a kid named "Latrina".

Dave, Zombies are like Coke-a-Cola. Everything goes better with Coke.

Except, maybe, classic literature. However, I'd like to see A Merchant of Venice done with vampires. It comes close, anyway.

Yeah, I have to say that glasses aren't all bad. In addition, they don't know the long term effects of Lasik eye surgery - something else I discovered AFTERwards. In other words, I could be more prone to retinal detachment, cataracts, troubled night vision, etc. I am already plagued by dry eyes.

So I am, you should come visit.

I think Pride And Prejudice would be better with zombies.

So would War And Peace.
