We're Famous!

Michelle and I were just talking on the phone, and I was idly scanning the comments in Sweet N' Saur when I ran across a comment by Mr. Gator. He wrote "Saur, it's funny I had stopped reading the Times' blogs for the most part so I missed that you were Blob of the week..." (Those of you who are used to Mr. Gator know that he didn't misspell "blob". Gator's famous for his quirkiness.)

I thought he was kidding, but casually logged into the St. Pete Times blog section just to check it out, since I'd sent them a link about a week ago. A moment later, I was squealing! OK, yeah, sometimes I can act like a sissy-girl.

Michelle and I were floored. A special thank you to the Times for this promo (our picture and link are about halfway down the page). For those readers who don't live in the Tampa Bay Area, the St. Pete Times is our biggest newspaper with a daily readership of 669,800 alone. Their websites "are the most visited Tampa Bay area news and information sites," and this is a big area.

I actually blushed! Michelle got off the phone to supposedly call her sister, but it could have been due to my shrieking in her ear, instead.

We are now famous. I expect to be getting a call from Madonna at any time. Madonna, I'm sorry. We can't join the tour. Please accept our heartfelt regrets.

And This Blog is Listed at TBO.Com!

Unbeknownst to me until today, this particular blog is listed in The Tampa Tribune's "On The Pulse: A sampling of the top area blogs". The Trib is our second biggest paper with an average daily circulation of 211,725 with a daily average web traffic count of 7,544!

I guess I know why my hit counter is registering a lot of people in here lately.

A special thank you to every one of you who finds it worthwhile enough to return here regularly. I hope that I enrich your lives as much as you enrich mine.

Congrats on the new found fame. Dont forget about us, and we always knew you were the best blob out there.

Alex, this blog, and my readers, are all my first priority. You are at times more close to me than my own family (with the exception of SaurKid). ;o)

Way to go! Congratulations, but its only natural. A well-done blob on a subject all those in Tampa should be up on. See? You've contributed to the local input of the school system, so pat yourself on the back!

Well now, congratulations are in order. But let's be realistic... A first-rate blog design, a timely and relevant subject that touches everyone - locally as well as nationally - and participation from intelligent, rational and informed members of the community, one should not be too surprised. This is yet another example of those who ultimately posses the power (the people) exercising it while those who were granted temporary custodianship of that power resist. Classic - I love it.

Who says you can't fight city hall. Go ahead and stir that hornet's nest Saur and Michelle, those pests we euphemistically refer to as "public servants" need to know that we, the people, are in charge - it is not their government, it's ours. As Abraham Lincoln said over a century ago, a "government of the people, by the people [and] for the people shall not perish from the Earth." Nor, apparently, from Pinellas County.

Dr. Wilcox, please do not confuse complacency with stupidity, quiet with acquiescence or apathy with approval. Americans are tolerant to a fault, but once riled, we will be on you like white on rice - just ask our commander in chief how that's working for him.

We don't ask much of our public officials; mediocre competence and a marginal work ethic are usually enough. In return we award the sweetest of compensation packages. All we ask is that you earn it.

~Mike

Mike A, that is enormously sweet of you, and I appreciate it immensely. Thanks for the contribution to both blogs! ;o)

Miss C, thank you very much. We hope it continues, and it's of help to everyone!

Congrats on the recognition. I don't know how you manage to write on more than one blog!

Saur♥Kraut said...

Notsocranky, I don't. Michelle also runs Sweet N' Saur and writes and moderates for it now. I turned over the reins about 9 mos. ago or so. I helped with the recent upgrade and transition, that's all. I'll soon be reducing my participation over there once more.

(raising a champagne glass in your honor).... I say well done, Saur. You deserve all the accolades you are due because of your dedication, enlightening subject matter, and intelligence.
Much praise to Michelle also, for blobs are a lot of work, and she doing nicely so far.

You go girls! You make us proud to know you... and read your great blobs.

That is something to be proud of.
Great job!

Be safe and have a great Memorial day weekend!

What do you mean we don't have time to tour? Are you out of your mind. That is just the vacation we need. With my belly dancing skills and your mouth we could make it big time!

Awesome, Saur!

I am happy to be an on-going part of your well written, and unqiue blog!

Way to go Saur and Michelle. Nice job. You deserve all of the accolades. You're intelligent, well-spoken/written and you don't speak down to or belittle your readers.

Plus, you make me think - something I appreciate and at times is lacking in my own life.

Once again, congratulations.

Saur,

Congratulations. I can't believe you beat me to this honor.

FYI, If you use the word thong in any of your posts you get a lot of Canadian hits.

Gator, I'm surprised, too, with posts such as the one you have today. That is a true work of art, my friend.

Kathleen, thank you, and welcome to the wonderful world of being a registered blogger. ;o)

Heather, thank you! High praise, indeed. I truly appreciate it.

Barbara, and I, yours! It's funny, you really hated me at first but you see? I grow on people. Like mold.

Michelle, well, YOU would be awesome. I think I'll get a terrible case of stage fright and I'll simply have to manage the groupies. And I just couldn't go there. However, Gator might volunteer...

Lee Ann, and you too, hon! Have fun this weekend!

Ellen, *clink, clink* Too bad you don't live closer. It would be a good time to hire you for a celebratory dinner!

McKay, thanks, hon. It's actually nice to know that in the mornings when I force myself to sit down and come up with a pertinent, well-written and interesting post, that it's noticed by so many people! My next step is to buckle down on my novels. I've already won awards for my writing (but I can't mention what here, due to my desire to stay anon).

The local paper knows better than to list my blog in their links.

I would steal ALL the readers. The Miami Herald is not fit to use to line the bottom of a birdcage with.

Hurray!

Your blog is pure class. Perhaps some of your fame will rub off. However, yours has staying power; people will want to keep coming back.

I'm so very happy for you!
