Mel Gibson: Racist

By now almost everyone has heard of Mel Gibson's vicious anti-semitic statements and opinions which have been repeated all over the world. He's now in rehab; not because he wants to, I'm sure, but because it's "the thing to do" when you get caught abusing a substance.

As we know, when he was stopped by the cops for drunk driving, Mel went off on a drunken tirade against "fucking Jews"; accused Jews of being responsible for all the wars in the world; and asked the arresting officer if he was Jewish.

Since then, Mel has offered up an apology, saying that he said things that he didn't believe while he was drunk.

Sure! That's it! It's the alcohol talking! Not.

Look, we all know that alcohol brings out the inner beast. When we've drunk too much, the thing that has only been lurking behind our eyes is emboldened enough to come out. For some of us, that thing is merely a pussycat. For others, it can be a monster.

Which one of us would start spouting anti-semitic rhetoric if we were drunk? It's not natural to spout off about something that we don't believe. For instance, if I got drunk tonight, you wouldn't hear me saying that Pamela Anderson is a virtuous woman. Well, actually I suppose you might, if I was feeling sufficiently sarcastic and her name came up. But Mel started spouting this stuff with no provocation, and there wasn't a hint of sarcasm or any other angle he can come up with to excuse this behavior away.

Mel Gibson is a racist. Disney/ABC just announced that they are cancelling his upcoming Holocaust miniseries. I think it's a wise move. It's time to get someone else in there to replace Mel. Someone with a better reputation. I suggest Pamela Anderson.

I guess I could really care less if Mel Gibson hated white engineers with farming backgrounds, i.e. me, as long as he keeps turning out his excellent movies. Hollywood is to entertain me, not give me political advice.

I saw a clip of Pam in her wedding bikini. Doesn't she know those are going to be down to her waist in another twenty years. There ain't enough plasic in the world that can hold up that much weight.

Nothing like making a great career move, huh? Drunks usually get very honest I've come to find out.

hmm. I often say things I genuinely don't mean when I am drunk. (will you marry me? being the most serious - fortunately I got the no).
And I'm not sure the whole Pammy topless holocaust on ice thing will work. Just recast Mel as an SS officer & all will be well.

So he asked the COP if he was jewish?

I wonder if he asks his ACCOUNTANT if he/she is Irish when he is drunk?

And I wonder if the cop said "If I were jewish, I would be your agent".

We all know Mel is crazy. That Passion movie was the major clue. He is clearly one of those "I can not wait for the end of the world and the rapture" people. CRAZY.

Check out this link if you still need more proof.

Anyone who looks like that MUST be a bit looney

Oh good Lord! What a way to portray himself after just releasing "The Passion" not too long ago. Boo for bad publicity. Boo for bad behavior. Boo for bad Christian representation. Just plain BOO.

Hollywood annoys me. A lot.

Anyway Saur, I'm about to spam you today along with my comment about Mel. So here goes:

Hi! Would you mind stopping by my site when you get a chance? I just put up a time sensitive post about my upcoming missions trip to Jamaica in regards to fundraising and prayer support.

Thank you so much, and may God bless you today!!

That's a sad thing that happened, the racism, but I agree with you.

Second...(did I say "first" first?) I was always skeptical of the "Passion" blather because of Mr. Gibson's remarkably violent movie projects. I don't want my theology coming from Hollywood, no matter what the title, subject, director, producer, and so forth.

I'm with OMR, when I'm drunk as an asshat I say all kinds of dirty, evil, nasty ass shit and yes some of that may be repressed things leaking out but that's human nature; we're all a little bit racist, all a little bit fucked up.

Yes his words are anti-semitic but more importantyl so was the the film he made about Jesus when he was sober.

Daniel, I never saw Passion... I agree with Paul about it. But from what I hear, it was anti-semitic. Now I'd have to guess that it was true!

Paul, you are in my head on this one, aren't you?

Mal, and lots of dark eyeliner. Don't forget the eyeliner.

Deb, *LOL*

Steph, ditto, all the way. And I'll be right over!

Lazy Iguana, yup! And I love the pic! Thanks for the link. ;o)

Old Man Rich, good idea. As an SS Officer he can continue to make his mark in Hollywood. We need to call his agent!

Mike, ohhhhh yeah! I've found that out, myself.

Jef, you and Deb seem to be equally observant. Probably for the same reasons. ;o)

Ed, she's had more boob jobs than my car's had oil changes. As for Mel, I think it depends on what you are attempting to portray. He weighs out as a hypocrite to me, not an entertainer.

I'd like to be the first to say that I officially don't care. I know Mel is famous, but he's not my idol any more than John Rocker was. But I guess this is the sort of thing the media has to jump on when there's no real news to be reported.

Saur♥Kraut said...

Grant, a good objective viewpoint. But to me, this is news, since the guy was so busy decrying that he was a racist to begin with. His character is what sold the Passion, and it was what was going to sell his upcoming movie that was about to be released this winter. Now that's in question (for good reason, IMHO).

Saur,

Excellent post.

It's never wise to yell at the Po Po. So often they've spent all day dealing with blacks and then they get some Honkie yellin at them. If I were the Po Po I would have pistol whipped him. The police showed great restraint. I would like to give credit to the embracing diversity innitiatives being taught in Po Po forces across the country.

Senor, I would've dearly loved to have heard that they pistol-whipped him. I think any jury would've let it go.

Reverb, I read an article about how many different services there were for people who were drunk and needed a ride home! Amazing, isn't it???

I'm with Old Man Rich. I'd give him the benefit of a doubt.

If you stripped out of your skivvies when you were drunk, it doesn't mean you secretly want to be a nudist.

I'm just saying, he was drunk and acting inexcusably but not normal. I'd let him apologize, besides, the man will be next weeks forgotten story and he will still have to live with himself. I just hope he gets the help he needs.

He may be a great actor, but he doesn't appear to be a very nice person at the moment. Obviously, something is going through his mind, as alcohol loosens the tongue ... the thoughts must have been there prior to the alcohol ... the alcohol just helped the words come out (it didn't make them up). All the apologies in the world isn't gonna fix up this one in a hurry.

Sorry I haven't been by for a while.
Hope all is well.
Take care, Meow

A drunk is a drunk, famous or not. The problem is that for some reason Americans seem to think that famous celebs know more than anyone else and hang on every word that hollyweird spews out anyway but why haven't they made a bigger outcry?

I used to think that Mel Gibson was the greatest piece of eye candy to hit the planet. Turns out that, just like real-life men, my perception is changed by behavior. So in my book, he is no longer hot. You brought this upon yourself, Mel.

i've liked some of mel's movies, mostly Braveheart. I didn't care for the gore of Passion yet I didn't see anything in the movie as anti-semitic. Being a born & raised Catholic, i was never taught that the Jews caused Jesus' death.

the thought that crossed my mind when i heard the horrible things allegedly spewed from mel's mouth was that many saints had huge vices they had to overcome and renounce to finally become better people.

here's a brief bio on Saint Paul:
"Jewish Talmudic student. Pharisee...Saul the Jew hated and persecuted Christians as heretical, even assisting at the stoning of Saint Stephen the Martyr. On his way to Damascus to arrest another group of Christians, he was knocked to the ground, struck blind by a heavenly light, and given the message that in persecuting Christians, he was persecuting Christ. The experience had a profound spiritual effect on him, causing his conversion to Christianity. He was baptized, changed his name to Paul to reflect his new persona, and began traveling and preaching. Martyr."

if Saint Paul started out as a bigot full of hatred, perhaps there's hope for today's bigots to repent and change. Perhaps this arrest could be a life changing event (like Saul being struck blind) to give mel the wake up call he surely needs.

Maybe a little crisis communications 101 would help Mel?
