Presents

Whether you're celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, or Channukah, you are in need of gifts. Don't lie, you are... because you are not my mother.

My mother always starts her Christmas shopping immediately after Christmas. She hits some of the more important Christmas sales, and continues to look for things on sale all year long. The bargains she finds get tucked away until the following Christmas. That woman has amazing self-control and planning abilities. She should be the next President of the United States except that she's way to smart to want to do that.

For the rest of us mere mortals, we are left looking about desperately for gifts at the last minute.

I remember one year when one of my brothers did some last minute shopping at the local drugstore. For those of you who do all your holiday shopping on the day before (or even worse, the day of) the holiday, STOP DOING IT. We really don't want the type of quality gift these stores provide, such as The Pooping Reindeer:

and... Mother Teresa Breath Spray:

Or... this marvellous umbrella hat (my grandfather had one):

And...the ever popular Tatoo Sleeve (this WON'T go big with Mom):

So everyone, take a deep breath, get ready to make a list and check it twice, because it doesn't pay to be naughty - just nice. And do a little self-sacrifice ahead of time so that you won't go down in family history as The Man Who Bought Grandma The Pooping Reindeer.

Those gifts top my all time weirdest gift: nose hair clippers from Hubby's grandmother!

Pooping Reindeer? That is weird, yet kinda funny!

I am done with my big shopping. Just have to get stocking stufferes. Of course as luck would have it, my son's birthday is December 28th. Do you think I have a clue what to get? NO!

I finished my cyber-shopping yesterday. I love when the brown boxes show up - it means I avoided another long line at the mall.

Before I got married, all of my Christmas shopping was finished by the first week in December. Now, I'm lucky that I get it all done by Christmas. I do some cyber-shopping, but today I'm braving the mall.

I'm go guilty of being the last minute shopper.

The thing is, if I do last minute shopping, I tend to get a gift certificate at their favorite restaurant...can't go wrong with that one! ;)

Great post!

Hey, my sister said she is all done with her shopping, I wonder what she got me...

Anywho, I was thinking about gettting a full set of tattoo sleeves myself!

My shopping isn't done by a long shot, but I have got one small gift for someone really special!

Shows what you know --

My granddaughter took my umbrella hat to Show and Tell and every kid in the class wanted to try it on.

Pooping reindeer is the best!

Like Fred, I did my shopping online. Sooooooo, great! Who knew that you could make it through the season without being stampeded at the mall. LOVE IT!!!

Hmmmmmm. Think I'll google "pooping reindeer."

Saur,

Boy this hits home. I stode all the Pooping Deer at my Eckerds. I knew they would be popular. My Boss was lucky enough to get one in the gift exchange today. The rest I'm giving to the hot babes in the office. Don't worry one of my tasks is embracing diversity.

Mr. Gator, I never doubted it for a minute. And there are many people who would appreciate a pooping reindeer.

Kathleen & Fred, YUP! Ebay all the way for me this Christmas. It's the best thing ever invented!

Lazy Iguana, Awww, I forgot the Chia heads. The kids love those monstrosities.

Ted, just make sure they're silk. The cotton ones are itchy.

Jamie Dawn, personally my favorite is the breath spray. ;o)

Old Hoss, They really come in handy... or so my grandfather thought...?

FTS, ;o)

Eddo, I think a set of tat sleeves could catch on with the Mavs!

Deb, yeah, gift certs are a certain bet!

Lava, I think Eddo's hoping for those sleeves *hint, hint*

Uncle Joe, I'll keep that in mind! And I will check your post!

Polanco, the older I get, the less time I have and (at the same time) the less I care (thankfully!)

Aunt Josephina, was it a hint, perhaps? My mother buys us all grooming stuff as stocking stuffers. My ex used to be offended by it, but no need - mom just saw it as something that was needed and would be useful as a last minute stuffer. ;o)

Michelle, you are way too organized for my own good. ;o)

That pooping reindeer is hilarious!
You are right though, not a real good gift.

That tattoo sleeve is cool.

My stepson gave me that VERY pooping reindeer once -- for my BIRTHDAY! Now THAT was a bad gift.

All you need now are links to those items on ebay.

I think your mother and my wife may have some distant geneological connection. I, for one, don't get any kind of gift inspiration till Dec. 23 or so. As for the pooping reindeer, some people will do anything for a chocolate covered raisin.
